Mending: Necessity and Expression with Katelin Karbonik is happening online Wednesday March 24 from 6:30pm till 8:00pm.
Mending can have many meanings. It can be a way of extending the life of a favourite garment. It can be seen as embarrassing evidence of not being able to afford new clothes. It may be utilitarian or decorative. It can even be used as a meditative practice or be seen as a form of art.
This talk will explore some of the many meanings of mending using objects from the MAG’s Clothing & Textiles collection.
This program is offered as part of 'Art Speaks', a learning series held on select Wednesday evenings co-presented by the Red Deer Arts Council (RDAC) and Red Deer Museum + Art Gallery (MAG).
Presentation will take place online via Zoom. Pre-registration is required.
For ages 16+. This presentation is FREE to attend thanks to the ATB Branch for Arts & Culture
