Red Deer has a multitude of activities to keep you and your loved ones entertained. Enjoy some winter activity by snowshoeing or cross-country skiing down at Heritage Ranch or out at River Bend Golf & Recreation Area or get together for ice skating at Bower Ponds — remember they also provide skate rentals if your family is from out of town. Here’s a run down of scheduled Family Day events and happenings in and around Red Deer.
Servus Credit Union presents – Our Stories: This is Us, at the Red Deer Museum and Art Gallery, February 17th 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm. Enjoy a storytelling performance by Red Deerian Michael Dawe, take a fun and playful instant photo of your family with TwitchyBooth! that you can take home as a memento. Participate in family-friendly art activities and games, music, and leave your mark on a collaborative art project for families, on our giant “This is Us” tree in our studio to showcase the families of Red Deer (this collaborative tree will be on display for a short time-period after the event); plus enjoy cake and beverages! Free to attend; donations are welcome.
The Family Day at the Kerry Wood Nature Centre event takes place February 17th 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm. Bring the family for an afternoon of fun nature-based activities! Fire pit for roasting marshmallows, snowshoeing, games, activities, and so much more! The admission is $5 a person or $15 for a family.
Join the festivities at The Snowman Festival, February 16th at Heritage Ranch, a Family fun afternoon of sleigh rides, pony rides and hot chocolate! Tickets are $55.00 for a family of four and you can add a hot dog s’mores pack to roast around the fire for an additional cost of $18.00. Get your tickets now and you will receive a family pass to the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame and Museum. For the morning experience please arrive between 10:00 am and 12:00 pm. Afternoon experience arrive between 3:00 pm and 5pm. Tickets can be purchased online.
If you love soccer, then come on down to the 19th Annual Red Deer Family Day Indoor Soccer Tournament, happening February 14 – 17 at the Collicutt Centre for the boarded tournaments and at the Westerner Agricentre West field and Indoor Dome for the non-boarded tournaments.
Celebrate Family Day by stopping by the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame and Museum, February 17th, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm for some family fun, games, crafts and hot chocolate. Admission is free for those 17 and under, Adults $5.00.
Sylvan Lake Winterfest is back, Family Day long weekend February 15 -17 offers entertainment the entire family can enjoy. Family fun on the ice, a Polar Bear Dip, Fire & Ice Show, Oval ice racing championships, free family fishing weekend and don’t forget the fireworks on the lake. Why not extend the family fun by attending The Princess Ball 2020 the following weekend Saturday, February 22nd at the Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites Red Deer South. Your child will be greeted by the likes of Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, or maybe Tinker Bell. Inside the ballroom they will be enchanted by the decor created by Engaged by Darcie and Uptown Parties & Balloons. They will find many other Princes & Princesses to meet and a great list of other activities. It’s all in support of Cystic Fibrosis Canada and a great event for adults and their little ones to attend.
