Tourism Economic Impact Report for Central Alberta

Tourism Red Deer, in collaboration with the Central Alberta Tourism Alliance, partnered with the Conference Board of Canada (now operating as Signal49) to conduct a comprehensive analysis of tourism’s economic impact across Central Alberta.

The study examined the region as a whole, along with specific insights for Blackfalds, the City of Red Deer, Clearwater County and Caroline, Innisfail, Lacombe County, Red Deer County, Rocky Mountain House, and Sylvan Lake.

Using advanced data sources, including mobile phone geolocation and point-of-sale transactions, the analysis revealed that tourism is a significant economic driver in Central Alberta—contributing nearly $1 billion to GDP and supporting approximately 7,500 jobs.
