Chedda’ Heads is a grilled cheese truck that roams Red Deer saving citizens and their kids – especially their kids – from yet another burger. We asked Richard Dowling – the truck’s top chedda’ head – a little about himself and here are his five gooey melty cheesy answers.
Q. Tell us about yourself and your food truck – who are you chedda’ heads anyway?
A. Chedda’ Heads is Red Deer’s first gourmet grilled cheese food truck and we specialize in comfort! I was born and raised in Red Deer and created this business from scratch with my partners in cheese. Our whole team is so excited by the overwhelmingly positive response from Red Deerians and Central Albertans.
Q. What’s the most grilled cheese you’ve made in a day?
A. The most grilled cheese we made – hmmm – we had one one crazy long day last year I remember and we went through the majority of the bread trays on the truck. Being so busy is both fun and exhausting! 🙂
Q. Besides the Red Deer Market on Saturday mornings and Food Truck Fridays on Ross St downtown – where do you roam?
A. This season is gearing up to be a super busy one – and we can’t wait! You can find us at local events such as Westerner Days in July, roaming the downtown core during lunch hours and starting Tuesday, May 27 at our new event Truck’ n Tuesdays from 4–7 pm at the Cool Beans bus downtown. Q. What do you do for fun?
A. Well, this may come across as “cheesy” but getting to operate Chedda’ Heads is the most fun I’ve ever had and wouldn’t trade it for anything – but I do enjoy live music, dining with friends & family and sitting on patios enjoying a fine coffee whenever I can.
Q. What’s your favourite cheese?
A. So many amazing cheeses to choose from – but I am particularly fond of Triple Cream Brie as it can be used for savory or sweet creations.
