The Story of Red Deer
In this module, you’ll discover the history and growth of Red Deer—how its origins, central location, and the people who have called this place home have shaped the city’s character today. You’ll build a clear, visitor-friendly understanding of what makes Red Deer unique and how to bring that story to life in everyday conversations. By the end of the module, you’ll be able to share a few key historical highlights and local context that help visitors connect more deeply with the region and appreciate the place they’re exploring.

Why Tourism Matters in Red Deer
This module explores how tourism supports Red Deer—fueling the local economy, creating jobs, strengthening small businesses, and building a sense of community pride. You’ll also be introduced to Tourism Red Deer and what it means to be the region’s Destination Marketing Organization (DMO). By the end of the module, you’ll be able to confidently explain why tourism matters in Red Deer, how it benefits local people and businesses, and what Tourism Red Deer is working to achieve for the region.

By the end of this module, you’ll be able to describe Red Deer’s standout qualities in a clear, engaging way—and share them confidently in conversations with visitors.

A City that Celebrates
Red Deer comes alive through its events, festivals, and can’t-miss attractions—and in this module, you’ll explore the experiences that draw visitors in and bring the community together. You’ll get familiar with key annual events and learn how these gatherings contribute to tourism while showcasing the city’s energy, creativity, and local pride. By the end of this module, you’ll be able to name some of Red Deer’s major annual events, use the Visit Red Deer website to find and share current event information, and describe how these celebrations help shape the city’s spirit.

Red Deer as a Year-Round Destination
This module highlights the Red Deer region as a vibrant, four-season destination. Learners will gain confidence in recommending seasonal activities year-round, understand how experiences shift with the seasons, and use Visit Red Deer resources to help guests plan meaningful visits at any time of year. By the end of this module, learners will be able to confidently describe spring, summer, fall, and winter experiences and position Red Deer as an engaging destination in every season. By the end of this module, you’ll be able to confidently recommend Red Deer’s most popular spring and summer highlights and connect visitors with the right information to make the most of their stay.

This module introduces the wide range of places to stay in Red Deer, from full-service hotels and convenient budget options to campgrounds and unique local accommodations. You’ll learn how to match guests with the right lodging based on their travel style, preferences, and price point, so they feel confident about where they’re staying and what’s nearby. By the end of this module, you’ll be able to guide visitors toward accommodations that suit their needs, budgets, and interests, and direct them to the Stay section on the Visit Red Deer website for the most current options and details.

This closing module brings everything together and reinforces the power of collective hospitality in Red Deer.
