Thanks to a change in regulations in 2014, Alberta’s craft beer scene has exploded with dozens of breweries popping up all over the province. Central Alberta is home to some amazing craft breweries. Troubled Monk was one of the first craft breweries in this area when it opened in 2015 and it remains one of the best. Their Open Road American Brown Ale took second place at the World Beer Cup in 2016, which is like the Olympics of beer. They’ve received many other awards since that time. They also offer tours of their brewing facilities upon request.

Wild Brewing Company

12-5579 47th Street | (403) 346-1939
Wild Brewing Co., located in Red Deer, was ahead of the trend when they opened the first kombucha taproom in the nation. Kombucha is a healthful fermented tea that originated more than 2000 years ago. Filled with probiotics, it is a cool, fizzy beverage that is a healthy alternative to soda pop. Popular flavours at Wild Brewing include elderberry lavender, vanilla cherry, blueberry mint, raspberry ginger, and strawberry basil. They’re always experimenting with new flavours, so it’s fun to pop by their taproom and do some sampling. You’ll also find their kombucha in Central Alberta stores.
