Bower Ponds

A popular destination within Waskasoo Park, Bower Ponds offers a variety of recreation opportunities.  Stop by the Pavilion that is equipped with a concession, washrooms and equipment rentals – paddleboats and water balls in summer, and ice skates in winter. Other features of this beautiful park include the Cronquist House (a restored Victorian-style farmhouse built in 1911), a newly renovated outdoor stage that attracts many events each year including Canada Day celebrations, and a large playground with a view of the river.

Glendale Skate Park

Red Deer’s newest skate park, designed by New Line Skateparks, is located at the Glendale School site, corner of 77 Street and Taylor Drive. The park offers 1,600 sq metres of freestyle, street and vert skating for all skill levels.

Great West Adventure BMX Park

The site of an 335 metre technical track for BMX biking, complete with many obstacles including triple and double jumps, step-ups and more. Local, regional and national championships have been held here and it is the home of the Red Deer BMX Club.

Kin Kanyon

Boasts hiking and biking trails that wind along the creek valley. Enjoy a picnic or hot dog roast, cool your feet in the wading pool or enjoy the playground area.

Kiwanis Picnic Park and Playground

A popular spot. Nearby you can play nine holes at the par 3 pitch and putt golf course or enjoy a game of horseshoes. There is a boat launch area, which is also used in winter for snowmobilers to access the river.

Red Deer Mountain Bike Park

Created and maintained by mountain bike users, these trails provide climbs, drops and various features for beginner, intermediate and advanced mountain bikers looking for a challenge! An environmentally sensitive wetlands area featuring special waterfowl, this natural parkland area is attractive to pedestrians and borders.

Rotary Park

Recently upgraded with a state-of-the-art playground, with more than 50 play activities for children aged 18 months to 12 years. Picnic shelter, fire-pits, washrooms are also available on site. Climb to the top of Piper Mountain for a spectacular view of the city. Nearby is a skate park, which is a popular destination for skateboarders.
